Stirrin'stuff at Christmas 30th December

Oh, the joys of a large family; multiple conversations, "He who shoutest loudest will probably win". Fun - lots of it. The chaos began with the Holly Hop dance (the Bird party consisted of 12 nine-to-eleven year olds) with supper at Littleton of Airlie for starters. Lili and a few brothers cooked the supper (her meringues are to die for), and this heralded the start of Birds at home en famille for Christmas.

A few quotations (most must remain anonymous) and pictures of a frost clad garden on Christmas day, BETTER than snow because discarded wellies don't leave puddles in the kitchen!

Before the blue, blue skies of Christmas day we had jolly carols. Xander, who sings in a Cambridge college choir, Jhonti and number four (Alasdair), graced the Kirk with their mellifluous sound- the rest of us added volume if little else.
Here are my favourite Crimbo Quotes (hmm the facebook lot have influence),

'Kelly Bronze doesn't dry out'.
'Ma, this smells good, is it as winey?' - Maxim (aged 9) on mincemeat - albeit rather nice brandy. He is not discerning.
'He is a faker; he just wants to watch TV all of the time, and he looks like Dracula he is so white'. (An ill member of the household)
'Reels are Ok but only if the girls are pretty'.
'I like shooting even if I don't manage to kill anything'
'I like Christmas cake but it makes you f…'

Xander even deigned to do some cooking for once, making even more flipping mince pies for a New Year Bash. Sounds proper off the hook Xander. I say made, but he didn't make the mincemeat, or the pastry. Small steps. We'll get him on the cooking wagon eventually. Lazy students, eh.
