Scottish Organic Food Fair November 4th and November 5th
Stirrin’Stuff enjoyed a weekend of workshops in partnership with the Soil Association, at their first Scottish Organic food fair; this took place in Glasgow. This was a fantastic venue - the Glasgow fruit market for stall holders with demonstrations and talks talking place in the Metropolitan College.
The children’s workshops were held in a large room, where the Soil Association’s educational officers organized fun sessions at one end and Stirrin’Stuff did basic cookery skills and theory at the other end of the room. The children all filed into the college’s training kitchen for the ‘messier’ practical session.
Some workshops were over subscribed; one family even made a special journey to return the following day! The children had lots of fun and didn’t make too much mess - a real recipe for success.
We are indebted to Highland Spring and the British Heart Foundation for their continued support with the children’s goody bags. Stirrin’Stuff and the Soil Association are grateful to Angus College catering students Linzzi and Michael; higher student Emily from Helensburgh School and Soil Association Volunteers, Fiona and Margaret, their help was invaluable. The volunteers were fantastic, without their support the children would not have had as much hands on fun with the graters and likewise.
Shout it from the treetops – well done to the team who gave of their time so generously. Thank you to Angus College for paying the students’ train fares and to the Soil Association for allowing us to participate in their fabulous event.
