Breakfast Animals
Makes 6-12 depending on cutter size
What to find:
6 slices of wholemeal bread
2 eggs
2 tablespoons natural set yoghurt
One teaspoon runny honey
Half teaspoon cinnamon
Butter for cooking (approx 25g)
What to do:
1. Use an animal cutter to stamp out the ‘friends’.
2. Break an egg into a small bowl and then put it into a large mixing jug.
3. Repeat with the second egg. This is good practice for egg cracking.
4. Put a damp cloth under the jug to make sure that it doesn’t move and lightly whisk the eggs with a balloon whisk.
5. Add the yoghurt and whisk well.
6. Whisk in the honey and cinnamon.
7. Dip the animal shapes one at a time into the eggy mixture – a quick ‘In-and-Out’ should be enough.
8. Having dipped - then cook: -
9. Heat a knob of butter in a frying pan and when it is foaming, add the eggy friend. Cook for 1-2 minutes and then flip onto the other side and cook for a further 1-2 minutes until golden. Add more butter as required.
Notes for Adventurous Cooks:
Add chopped dried fruit for an eye.
